Dandruff Problem

Dandruff is the shedding of dead skin cells from the scalp.Dandruff has become a big problem to all men and women as it is sometimes associated with inefficient hair care. But nothing could be further from the truth - anyone who has dandruff knows that! but still isn't able to find a good solution.  If you're troubled by that snowy, dust-like stuff that falls from scalp to shoulders, you should understand that everyone has dandruff to some degree.

Dandruff causes bad itching on the scalp and looks dirty on the hair. When severe it weakens the roots of the hair because the roots cannot breathe with the coverage of scalp with this so give hot oil massage to your hair with good moving circulations. You can put hot oil (bearable) on the scalp with a cotton dab. Now use your fingertips to give circulating motions to your head. It reduces the dandruff because it increases the blood circulation and prevents hair from the fall. Dandruff can be a cause of premature graying of hair so take it seriously and don't ignore. For better results you can take anti dandruff oil easily available in the market to use on your hair.

Hormonal imbalance and stress too causes dandruff at times so one should keep a check about them. Seek a professional advice if you are suffering from the hormonal imbalance. Eat healthy food to fulfill the deficiency in your body.

Avoid intake of oily food in your diet and cut off the consumption of tea and coffee. Vitamin E, vitamin B- Complex and zinc supplement helps in case of severe dandruff but one should take medical advice before starting consuming these vitamins. They can be taken in natural forms in any way without any harm to the body.

Following are home remedies for treating Dandruff:

1.Give ur hair a rinse with diluted 50/50 concoction of apple cider vinegar and water at the end of each time ur wash ur hair.

2. Use egg yolk 1, yogurt 1 tsbp . mix and apply for 10 mins and wash out with an anti dandruff shampoo. Oil your hair 1hr before applying this mixture.

3. The use of fenugreek seeds is one of the most important remedies in the treatment of dandruff. Two tablespoons of these seeds should be soaked overnight in water and ground into a fine paste in the morning. This paste should be applied all over the scalp and left for half an hour. The hair should then be washed thoroughly

4.A valuable prescription for removal of dandruff is the use of green gram powder. The hair should be washed twice a week with two tablespoons of this powder mixed with half a cup of curd.

5.Dandruff can be removed by massaging the hair for half an hour with curd which has been kept in the open for three days, or with a few drops of lime juice mixed with amla juice every
morning. Keep it for 30 mins and wash it with a mild shampoo.

6.Tea tree oil, rosemary oil and geranium are very helpful in reducing dandruff. You can add few drops of them into your massage oil and apply this mixture on your head; it will reduce your problem of dandruff.

7.You can apply henna on the scalp by aiding lots of curd and lemon juice to it. You can even mix some tea water in the mixture when making the paste. Eggs if added to the henna paste and applied on the scalp, helps in reducing the dandruff.

So a little awareness, more prevention and most important protection can help you to get rid of the dandruff problem and give you healthy hair.

Satyanarayan Pooja

The Satyanarayan Puja is a Hindu religious observance. It is a ritual performed by Hindus before/on any major occasion like marriage, house warming ceremony etc. It can also be performed on any day for any reason.

The Satyanarayana Puja is usually done on the Purnima day of every month (the day of the full moon) or a Sankranti.

Satyanarayana vrat is the easiest and most inexpensive way of self-purification and self-surrender at the lotus feet of Hari. One who observes it with full devotion and faith is sure to attain his heart's desire.
The katha is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his manifestation as Lord Satyanarayan.

Ingredients for performing Katha or Pooja:

Panchamrit(Milk,Ghee,Curd,Honey and Sugar)
Kutti for prasad(Wheat Flour,Ghee and Sugar)
Coconut,Bananas or any other fruit
Flowers
Tulsi
Idols of Laxmi and Narayan
Diya
Dhoop,Agarbatti
Rice grains with KumKum powder

Method of Performing Katha:

The puja starts by a prayer to Lord Ganesha, to remove all obstacles that may occur as a result of incorrectly performing the puja. This is done by chanting all the names of Lord Ganesha and offering prasad (a food offering, usually consisting of one of Lord Ganesha's favorite foods - modak, a sugar and coconut mixture, or laddu) and the showering of flower petals.

Another part of the prayer involves a prayer to the Navagraha's - the nine important celestial beings in the universe. They consist of Surya (the Sun), Chandra (the moon), Angaaraka/Chevaai (Mars), Budha (Mercury), Guru aka Bruhaspati (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Sani (Saturn), Rahu (the head of the Demon snake), and Ketu (the tail of the Demon snake).

The rest of the puja consists of worship to Satyanarayana, an extremely benevolent form of Lord Vishnu. First "panchamritam" is used to clean the place where the deity is placed. After placing the deity in the correct position, Satyanaraya swami is worshipped. Names of Satyanarayana are chanted along with offering of a variety of prasad (including a mixture of milk, honey, ghee/butter, yogurt, sugar) and flower petals.

Another requirement of the puja is that the story of the puja be heard among all those observing and partaking in the puja. The story involves the origin of the puja, the benefits of it, and the potential mishaps that may occur with the careless performance of the puja.

Chakra Dhyana

The Chakra Dhyana is an ancient meditation that cleanses and opens the
seven major energy centers in the body, also known as Chakras.

This powerful meditation clears, activates, energizes and awakens the
Chakras, or major energy centers of the body. By focusing awareness on
each chakra while chanting the 'sound frequency' of that energy center,
the chakra is healed and activated to it's full potential, clearing past
traumas and bringing balance to the mind, body and soul. The activation
of these chakras also has a physical counterpart i.e. various
regions in the brain are stimulated leading to a more holistic
view towards life. The Kundalini energy awakens and flows through
these chakras energising the whole pranic body which directly
 energises the physical body.

This simple meditation, when practiced regularly, will enhance and
deepen your connection to yourself and all that is, and create more
energy in your daily life.

Sit with your eyes closed, spine erect but not rigid Rest your hands
on your thighs with palms facing up, index fingertips touching the tip
of each thumb for the first three chakras, touching the middle joint
of each thumb for the fourth & fifth chakras and the base of the thumb
for the sixth & seventh chakras.

As we come to each chakra, focus your attention on the indicated area of your body.
With each exhale chant themantra that is given in a slow, elongated fashion.
Begin with the root chakra (Mooladhara) and work upward to theCrown (Sahasrara).
At the end always allow the energy to ground, flowing down through your body,
and spend a few minutes in meditation or lie on your back in shavasan.

Lie Down in Shavasan
Lie down with your eyes closed immediately
after the meditation,
and relax for at least 10 or 20 minutes, or as long

as you like. Yoga's Corpse Pose, Shavasan, is good for this
(eyes closed, on your back with arms loosely to the sides,
palms up, legs slightly apart). Let go. Enjoy. Notice the
dynamics of the energy in your body as the kundalini flows.

Pranayama

Pranayama  is a Sanskrit word meaning "extension of the prana or breath" or more accurately, "extension of the life force".

It is very aptly said ,"To watch your MIND, watch your BREATH".

Therefore we should take out some time and do some pranayams. It will blow away our problems.

Following are the types of Pranayamas:

  • Nadi Sodhana
  • Shitali Pranayama
  • Ujjayi Pranayama
  • Kapalabhati Pranayama
  • Digra Pranayama
  • Bhastrika Pranayama
  • Bahya Pranayama
  • Bhramari Pranayama
  • Udgit pranayama
  • Agnisar Kriya

Instructions on How to Perform Pranayama Yoga

Nadi Sodhana: It is otherwise known as Nadi Shuddhi Pranayama

Following steps instruct on how to perfrom the nadi sodhana pranayama:

  • Sit down in a comfortable place assuming a cross legged position
  • Now use your thumb (right hand) to close the right side of your nose. Inhale deeply using the left nostril
  • Now close the left nostril and exhale using the right one
  • In the same way, now with the left nostril still closed, inhale using the right nostril and exhale with the left one
You can continue doing this exercise for around 10 - 15 times.

Shitali Pranayama:

Sitali Pranayam soothes and cools the spine, particularly in the area of the fourth, fifth and sixth vertebrae. This in turn regulates the sexual and digestive energy.
Roll the tongue into a “U” with the tip just outside your lips. (If you can’t roll your tongue, then just extend the tip of your tongue outside your lips, resting on the lower lip.) Inhale deeply through the mouth, making a hissing, whistling sound. Concentrate on the coolness that you feel at the back of the throat. Hold the breath, then exhale through the nose, and feel this coolness spreading out into your nervous system, and up into the brain.

 Bhastrika pranayama

  • In Bhastrika pranayama one needs to apply force while breathing in and breathing out. You can determine how much speed to apply while inhaling and exhaling keeping in mind your heath and endurance power.

  • When you breathe in while performing Bhastrika pranayama, your abdominal should not blow up. Instead your chest area should blow up. Repeat the procedure for 5 to 10 times.

  • You have successfully completed Bhastrika pranayama. One should perform Bhastrika pranayama for 5 minutes everyday. Those who have high blood pressure or heart disease should not practice Bhastrika pranayama.

  •  Kapalabhati Pranayama

Kapalbhati is another technique where short and strong forceful exhalations are stressed upon and inhalation happens automatically. The diaphragm and the muscles of the abdomen are to be moved violently and the air should be exhaled with the help of that movement

Sit in a comfortable yoga pose like Padmasana or Sukhasana. Take long, deep breath with both nostrils along with contraction inside the throat which makes the breath long and thin. The friction of air should be felt inside the throat when it is contracted and a hissing sound of breath is produced itself. Now exhale out very slowly. Repeat this process three times daily.

     Ujjayi Pranayama

Sit in a comfortable yoga pose like Padmasana or Sukhasana. Take long, deep breath with both nostrils along with contraction inside the throat which makes the breath long and thin. The friction of air should be felt inside the throat when it is contracted and a hissing sound of breath is produced itself. Now exhale out very slowly. Repeat this process three times daily.
    After some days of practice:
Three more steps are added to complete Ujjayi Pranayama process. After breathing inside with contraction in throat, try to touch your chin to the upper side of chest (Jalandhar Bandha). Hold the breath inside for maximum 10 seconds (Kumbaka).
Now exhale out slowly with left nostril, by closing right nostril with your right hand thumb. Exhale must be done by left nostril only. This is complete process of Ujjayi.

      Dirga Pranayama

Dirga Pranayama is called the three part breath because you are actively breathing into three parts of your abdomen. The first position is the low belly (on top of or just below the belly button), the second position is the low chest (lower half of the rib cage), and the third position is the low throat (just above the top of the sternum). The breath is continuous, inhaled and exhaled through the nose.

Next Time we willpost about the remaining Pranayamas.

    High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) or sprint interval training is an exercise strategy that is intended to improve performance with short training sessions. HIIT is a form of cardiovascular exercise which is beneficial to burning fat in a short and intense workout. Usual HIIT sessions may vary from 9–20 minutes. The original protocol set a 2:1 ratio for recovery to work periods. For example, a runner would alternate 30–40 seconds of jogging or walking with 15–20 seconds of hard sprinting.

    Procedure
A HIIT session consists of a warm up period of exercise, followed by six to ten repetitions of high intensity exercise, separated by medium intensity exercise, and ending with a period of cool down exercise. The high intensity exercise should be done at near maximum intensity. The medium exercise should be about 50% intensity. The number of repetitions and length of each depends on the exercise. The goal is to do at least six cycles, and to have the entire HIIT session last at least fifteen minutes and not more than twenty.
HIIT is considered to be an excellent way to maximize a workout that is limited on time.

    Tabata Method
A popular regimen based on a 1996 study uses 20 seconds of ultra-intense exercise (at an intensity of about 170% of VO2max) followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated continuously for 4 minutes (8 cycles). In the original study, athletes using this method trained 4 times per week, plus another day of steady-state training, and obtained gains similar to a group of athletes who did steady state (70% VO2max) training 5 times per week. The steady state group had a higher VO2max at the end (from 52 to 57 ml/kg/min), but the Tabata group had started lower and gained more overall (from 48 to 55 ml/kg/min). Also, only the Tabata group had gained anaerobic capacity benefits.

    Little Method
An alternative regimen based on a 2009 study uses 60 seconds of intense exercise (at 95% of VO2max) followed by 75 seconds of rest, repeated for 8–12 cycles. Subjects using this method trained 3 times per week, and obtained gains similar to what would be expected from subjects who did steady state (50–70% VO2max) training for five hours per week. While still a demanding form of training, this exercise protocol could be used by the general public with nothing more than an average exercise bike.

    Benefits
Studies by Tabata, Tremblay and others have explored the effectiveness of this method compared to traditional endurance training methods. A study by Gibala et al. demonstrated 2.5 hours of sprint interval training produced similar biochemical muscle changes to 10.5 hours of endurance training and similar endurance performance benefits. According to a study by King, HIIT increases the resting metabolic rate (RMR) for the following 24 hours due to excess post-exercise oxygen consumption, and may improve maximal oxygen consumption (VO2 max) more effectively than doing only traditional, long aerobic workouts.

Long aerobic workouts have been promoted as the best method to reduce fat, as fatty acid utilization usually occurs after at least 30 minutes of training. HIIT is somewhat counterintuitive in this regard, but has nonetheless been shown to burn fat more effectively. There may be a number of factors that contribute to this, including an increase in RMR, and possibly other physiological effects.

High-intensity interval training has also been shown to improve athletic performance. For already well-trained athletes, improvements in performance become difficult to attain and increases in training volume can potentially yield no improvements. Previous research would suggest that, for athletes who are already trained, improvements in endurance performance can be achieved through high-intensity interval training. A recent study by Driller showed an 8.2 second improvement in 2000m rowing time following 4 weeks of HIIT in well-trained rowers. This equates to a significant 2% improvement after just 7 interval training sessions. The interval training used by Driller and colleagues involved 8 x 2.5 minute work bouts at 90% of vVO2max, with individualized recovery intervals between each work bout.

Recently it has been shown that two weeks of HIIT can substantially improve insulin action in young healthy men. HIIT may therefore represent a viable method for prevention of type-2 diabetes.

Space Planning is very important as  after pacing the furniture it shoul not look congested. There should be some amount of openness. So as per the size of the room ,one can play with the size and omit a few furniture.

    Material and Colour Selection:

Laminates or Veneer with contrasting combination can be used for the furniture. For example: white and black, Light and dark brown ,  White and Grey , Brown and Green, White and Red and so on.

Once the material and colour for furniture is selected, the colour for walls becomes easy.  We can make a niche in the wall and paint it in a dark colour and put highlighting light.
