Master Bedroom is a place where one likes to wind up a hectic day. So utmost importance should be given to the ambience of the room.
It should be cozy, relaxing. One should feel calm and composed in the master bedroom. It should reflect one's personality.
Following are the basic furniture for a Master Bedroom:
1. Bed : It can be double, king or queen-sized.It can also have storage below with side drawers or pull up shutter. It can also be without storage, something like a platform bed.
2. Side table: It should be adjoining the bed. It ia place where one can keep small and essential items like alarm clock, lamp, etc.Size depends upon the space available.
3. Dressing table : It stocks up one's grooming essentials. Right from hair brush to makeup kit to perfumes to hair accessories. The list is endless. So it should be placed in a corner which looks neat and the person using is not disturbed by any kind of movement. It will be great if a dressing table has a small puffy.
4. Wardrobe: The size of wardrobe varied depending upon one's requirement.
5. Study table: It is required to keep a persoanl computer and for storage of some books and files. Overhead storage is beneficial if more storage is necessary.
6. T.V.Unit: It is not necessary but still some people prefer to keep T.V in the bedroom. It should be a compact unit with a shelf for keeping player and a small rack for keeping cds.
Space Planning is very important as after pacing the furniture it shoul not look congested. There should be some amount of openness. So as per the size of the room ,one can play with the size and omit a few furniture.
Material and Colour Selection:
Laminates or Veneer with contrasting combination can be used for the furniture. For example: white and black, Light and dark brown , White and Grey , Brown and Green, White and Red and so on.
Once the material and colour for furniture is selected, the colour for walls becomes easy. We can make a niche in the wall and paint it in a dark colour and put highlighting light.
The colour and pattern of drapery(curtains) should be kept in mind with the above pointers. It can be floral or plain or stripes or some geometric pattern. One can also have netted(sheer) curtains for light to pass in the room.
Accessories:
Accessories should be placed in the room depending upon the theme used. If modern theme is used modern accessories can be kept and if classic theme is used, heritage accessories can be kept.
There can be lamps, beautiful paintings, flower arrangement in a vase, clocks, small statues, etc.
I hope you'll find the above pointers useful for decorating your Master Bedroom
